Pilates Studio in London
our Studio
We offer a full range of classical Pilates apparatus, allowing you to experience the Method as it was originally created by Joseph Pilates.
As your practice evolves, so does the work — new exercises, new apparatus, new challenges. In developing the body, the mind follows. This is where the true benefit of Pilates lies: strength, stamina, and flexibility, alongside deeper concentration and a lasting sense of well-being.
Vision & History
Pi Studios is a movement and education-led Pilates studio, where clients, teachers, and trainees practise daily — creating an ongoing community rather than a single-use fitness environment.
Our aim is simple: to uphold the highest standards of teaching and teacher training, and to carry the Pilates Method forward with integrity, clarity, and care.
Founded in 2003 by Holly Murray, Pi Studios is built on over 25 years of practice and teaching within the Method of Joseph Pilates. What began as a small studio has grown into a dedicated home for classical Pilates — a place for skilled teachers, serious students, and a community committed to strength, coherence, and a true return to life.
25+ years in Pilates, offering one of the UK’s longest-standing classical teacher training programmes.
“Still, after so many years of teaching I remain as passionate as ever. My training began in NYC under the supervision of Romana Kryzanowska in 2003, the highly spirited keeper of the original teaching of Joseph Pilates. She taught me that the Pilates method is a discipline for the mind and the body and it should always be challenging but done with a smile. I see every day the benefits Pilates makes to everybody that comes through our door. This method has moulded me as it has moulded my clients. I am grateful every day to the genius of Mr Pilates.”
Our Vision
To reconnect mind, body, and spirit through the Pilates Method — guiding clients and teachers towards strength, clarity, and a true return to life.
Our Mission
To steward Classical Pilates with clarity, care, and responsibility — honouring the lineage by teaching the Method to be held, not simply performed, through disciplined practice, skilled observation, and embodied learning.

History of Pilates
At its core, Pilates is a disciplined system of movement created by Joseph Pilates, a gymnast, boxer, and visionary. Designed as a method to be practised consistently and carried through life, it connects physical strength with mental focus and overall well-being.
Joseph Pilates spent years challenging conventional ideas about health and fitness, driven by a belief in the deep connection between movement, vitality, and happiness. His work was ahead of its time — and continues to shape how we approach intelligent, effective exercise today.
Drawing from disciplines such as boxing, gymnastics, martial arts, yoga, dance, and weight training, he developed a complete system known as Contrology. This method integrates strength, mobility, coordination, and control through precise, purposeful movement.
Pilates exercises take the body through a full range of motion. As your practice evolves, you are continually introduced to new exercises, apparatus, and challenges — all of which help develop both mind and body. This is why the benefits of Pilates are so far-reaching: they build strength, flexibility, coordination, and concentration for long-term health.
