This program covers the original 34 mat exercises developed by Joseph Pilates, as passed down by Romana Kryzanowska. Learn to move your clients with the same joy, vitality, and precision Romana brought to the Method—while staying true to its original intention.

Training is usually delivered over two in-person weekends and structured into three progressive modules, beginning with the Intro Level.

Whether you’re stepping into teaching for the first time, leaving behind corporate life, or looking to refine your skills, this training will equip you with the tools, techniques, and confidence to step fully into the inspiring world of Pilates teaching.

Open to all—health and fitness professionals, dedicated practitioners, and those new to teaching. No prior teaching experience is required, though familiarity with the full Classical Mat repertoire is recommended.

At Pi, our training is rooted in building a strong, thoughtful foundation for your Pilates teaching journey. Through thorough guidance and supportive mentorship, you’ll learn how to introduce the Classical Mat repertoire effectively—even to clients with no prior Pilates experience. Together, we’ll build steadily and confidently towards the full sequence of Joseph Pilates’ 34 original mat exercises, always honouring the natural rhythm and flow of the Method.

Our training flows seamlessly through three progressive modules:
Module 1 takes place over the first weekend
Modules 2 & 3 unfold during the second weekend

Throughout, we stay deeply connected to the legacy of Joseph Pilates and his protégé Romana Kryzanowska, whose joyful, powerful presence continues to inspire our teaching today.

Each module includes gentle, progressive assessments to support your growth:

Knowledge Check – An online multiple-choice assessment to anchor key learning
Practical Assessment – An in-person demonstration of your teaching skills (Private appointments available, £150 fee)
Teaching Practice Log – A record of 90 hours of remote practice and teaching to deepen your confidence and integration

Our 9-month fully flexible comprehensive program is structured into four immersive, in-person modules, followed by a 450-hour apprenticeship. With a transparent and flexible framework that includes self-paced learning options, you have the freedom to master Pilates on your terms while embracing a time-honored tradition.

Each module is meticulously designed to equip you with the skills to safely and effectively guide clients at every level, while mastering the use of all classical Pilates apparatus, including the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Barrels, Pedi-Pole, and Magic Circle. Core Structure and Content: 600 Hours

  • Four Intensive Weekends:
    Explore every exercise across all apparatus and learn how to integrate these techniques into your practice and teaching—from introductory to advanced levels.

  • 450-Hour Logged Apprenticeship:
    Your apprenticeship is composed of four key components:

    1. Sessions and Classes:
      Engage in teaching sessions and attend classes to refine your skills.

    2. Self-Practice:
      Build and deepen your personal practice.

    3. Observation:
      Learn by observing experienced instructors in live sessions.

    4. Online Learning:
      Access additional content on our online portal, covering topics such as breath work, foot placement, multi-level teaching, and pelvic alignment.

    5. 4 Assessments keeping you inline and on target

This comprehensive approach ensures you gain the skills and confidence to succeed as a Classical Pilates teacher.

For our Spring Cycle 2025, progress at your own pace, attend the inperson weekends, move through your apprenticeship and set individualised test-out dates in collaboration with our team when you are ready. This option is ideal if you need to balance work, personal commitments, or parenting responsibilities while maintaining full control over your training timeline.

Autumn Cycle 2025 – New Option

NEW - Goal-Oriented & Date Organised
Experience our "Live and Breathe Pilates" training—a structured 9-month journey featuring the usual ntensive weekends but now with pre-assigned assessment dates (see website). This option is perfect for those who can commit full-time and want to complete their training within a set timeline.

Flexible Self-Paced Learning
We continue to honor your unique pace, attend the inperson weekends, move through your apprenticeship and set individualised test-out dates in collaboration with our team when you are ready. This option lets you progress at your own rate while balancing work and personal commitments, ensuring you stay in full control of your training timeline.

Programme Timing & Flexibility

✔ The Pi Fully Comprehensive Training Programme runs twice a year, with Spring and Autumn/Winter cycles.
✔ While it’s best to complete all modules within one cycle, you have the flexibility to roll into the next cycle if needed.

Acceptance Requirements

To ensure you’re ready for this Comprehensive training, we strongly recommend:
✔ At least 30 private or group Pilates sessions, OR
✔ The ability to independently perform a progression/intermediate Reformer workout (including transitions, spring settings, and exercise order).

Full Content & What to Expect


Module 1 Intro Level:  3 days

  • Pilates history, an introduction

  • Integration of exercises and apparatus for clients new to Pilates

  • Introduction to the Power House Actions coined by Romana Kryzanowska

  • Apparatus: The Reformer, The Cadillac, The High Chair, and the Mat

  • Simple anatomy

Modules 2 & 3 Progression Level:  6 days

  • Guided instruction on how to progress clients through The Method

  • Guidelines on how to teach and utilise time effectively with the Session Formatting System

  • Understanding the links and threads between exercises and apparatus

  • Covering all exercises to a progression level on the mat and reformer

  • Apparatus: Introduction to exercises on the Cadillac, High Chair, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Small Barrel, Spine Corrector, and Magic Circle

  • Special Cases and Injury Management

Module 4: Challenge Level : 3 days 

  • Completion of the full repertoire of the Mat, advanced/challenge level on the Reformer, and the most complex exercises on the other apparatus

  • Dynamic movement through breath and rhythm of exercises

  • Adding complex cueing

  • leave confident, curious, and inspired to inspire others.


Prerequisites

  • Familiar and comfortable with a Pilates workout on the apparatus

  • Usually a minimum of 30 sessions

Commitment

Completion of all in person training  4 modules 

  • 600 hours of training (online, Apprenticeship in person, and taking sessions and classes

  • 450 Apprenticeship (self practice | practice teaching | taking sessions and classes | observation

  • Passing  all assessments both written and practicals

  • Review all online video content on the Pi Academy Platform

  • Participate in classes and privates | Minimum 60 

  • Utilise student discount 30% discount on all classes

Assessments included in the training

We  ensure deep and thorough learning through regular assessments at each level and a final assessment at the completion of 600 hours apprenticeship:

Assessment 1:  Post 100 hours apprenticeship.

Written - Anatomy Based

Practical - Teach an Intro Session.


Assessment 2:  Post 300 hours apprenticeship. 

Written - Q&A and a Case.

Practical - Teach a full Progression Session.


Assessment 3:  Post 400 hours apprenticeship. 

Written - 2x Cases

Practical - Teach a Challenge/Progression Plus  Session.


Final Assessment 4 and Completion of Certification: Post 600 hours apprenticeship
