Part 1 | Module 1

Introduction to Matwork Teacher Training

The Pi Pilates Intro to Mat module teaches how to safely and correctly introduce the Classical Mat repertoire to clients with no previous Pilates experience, while maintaining the important flow and rhythm. Participants will learn to deliver every exercise using a unique formula and develop teaching skills. No previous teaching experience is required, but participants should be familiar with the full Classical Mat repertoire. The course is also open to health and fitness professionals and individuals who want to advance their personal Pilates practice. A Pi Pilates Intro to Mat Certificate is issued upon successful completion of all assessments and required logged hours.

Course Duration: 3 days in-person training + 30 hours remote self-practice and teaching & apprenticeship and one Assessment* Please note prearranged date on sign up.

Course Description:

The course covers the following topics:

Part 2 | Module 2 & 3

Completion to Matwork Teacher Training

The Pi Completion to Matwork Teacher Training continues and completes the Full Mat Work repertoire with The 34 Original exercises developed by Mr. Pilates. Participants will learn how to challenge clients and deepen their muscular connection while sharpening their teaching skills. The program includes the introduction of more complex exercises and a focus on breath and its importance to movement and life. This training builds upon the completion of the Full Mat Work repertoire with the addition of complex and playful exercises, focusing on voice, touch, and rhythm. A Completion to Mat Certificate is issued upon successful completion of and  passing of all assessments and submitting the required logged hours.

Course Title: Pi Pilates Completion to Mat

Course Duration: 3 days in-person training, + 60 hours remote self-practice and teaching & apprenticeship and two Assessments* Please note prearranged dates on on sign up.

Course Description:

Pi Pilates Full Comprehensive Teacher Training Program

The Pi Pilates Comprehensive Certification is a Classical Pilates education program distinguished by Holly Murray, who, having trained first-hand with Romana Kryzanowska in 2002, continued to work closely with Bob Liekens and has studied closely the archival material (historically ignored).  It really is a training connected first-hand to Joseph Pilates himself and his protege Romana Kryzanowska.

The Pi Full Comprehensive program is taught over four modules of in person training followed by an in depth and fully supported apprenticeship. You will cover the fundamentals of The Method (Intro Level), Progress clients (Progression Level), and finally challenge clients (Challenge Level).

The Pi Pilates Comprehensive Certification allows you to progress at your own pace. Each module will teach you how to level up your clients through the integration of the exercises and the correct use of the apparatus.  We take care to ensure that you understand the Pilates method to be a 360-degree approach, not just a linear one. It is the integration of the exercises and the apparatus that allows the beauty and strength of The Method to shine. 

You will learn how to integrate all the exercises through the use of all the apparatus in the studio. The Pilates Reformer, the Pilates Cadillac, the Pilates Wunda Chair and Pilates Barrels, not forgetting the Pedi-Pole and Magic Circles

Full Comprehensive Programme at a Glance

Duration: On Average it takes about 9 months to a year. Some may travel at a quicker pace and may complete in 6 months.

Apprenticeship 600 hours: Specifically 80 hours of in person. After the in person training you will begin your apprenticeship. 12 hours online support via the unique Pi Academy Platform, attend 60 sessions/classes, and a further 450 hours of apprenticeship to include 4 Assessments , Self Practice , Teaching. Uniquely, Pi Studio is open to you 7 days a week to ensure your freedom to practice. Up on Sign Up you will receive a Pi Student Discount of 30% on all Classes and Sessions

Overview: The Pi Pilates Fully Comprehensive Teacher Training Program is broken down into 4 modules. Over the modules you will learn how to use and integrate all the apparatus for the best outcomes working clients from brand new through to expert, and uniquely how to multilevel teach. Your training will including the Pilates Reformer, the Pilates Cadillac, the Pilates Wunda Chair and Pilates Barrels, Ped-0-Pole and Magic Circle. The training is designed to allow you to move at your pace and covers over 1000 exercises from the Pilates Method.

Choice to Attend: As a Bridge participant?

You can decide to enrol on the Full Comprehensive as a Bridge participant. A Bridge participant is someone who has had a previous training on apparatus and ordinarily has access to a studio or their own studio in which to train in.

If you are brand new to teaching on the apparatus then you will not qualify for enrolment as a Bridge Participant.

However, if you have completed in full the Pi Matwork Teacher Training you may attend the Pi Full Comprehensive as a Bridge Participant.

When: In person Summer and or In Person Winter training?

We run the Pi Full comprehensive training programme twice per year. Both have the same content and same 4 modules explored.

In the summer the programme is run as 12 day intensive June/July, one rest day. In the Winter we run the same content over 4 weekends, Friday Saturday and Sunday.

*You may also choose to blend the two, choose to take 2 modules as part of the Summer Intensive (first 6 days) and then complete the training with the last two weekends (weekend 3 & 4) in the winter. Please let Pi know if this is your intention.

Apparatus Covered:  Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Small Barrel, Spine Corrector, Pedipole and Magic Circle. & Simple Anatomy: We teach simple anatomy to allow you to communicate with other experts, and be able to work with clients and their issues.

Acceptance onto the PI Teacher Training: We expect a high degree of practice before acceptance onto the training.  We suggest a minimum number of 30 private/group sessions or be able to take yourself through a progression/intermediate reformer workout on your own.  You should know the transitions, names of exercises, springs and order for the reformer repertoire to a progression/intermediate level

Pi Full Comprehensive Programme in Depth

Module 1: Introduction to Pilates and The Method:  3 days 

  • Introduction to Joseph Pilates and his history, principles, and concepts of The Method

  • Integration of exercises and apparatus for clients new to Pilates

  • Introduction to the Power House Actions coined by Romana Kryzanowska

  • Apparatus: The Reformer, The Cadillac, The High Chair, and the Mat

  • Simple anatomy

Modules 2 & 3 Progression Level:  3 days & 3 days  (total 6 days)

  • Guided instruction on how to progress clients through The Method

  • Guidelines on how to teach and utilise time effectively with the Session Formatting System

  • Understanding the links and threads between exercises and apparatus

  • Covering all exercises to a progression level on the mat and reformer

  • Apparatus: Introduction to exercises on the Cadillac, High Chair, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Small Barrel, Spine Corrector, and Magic Circle

  • Special Cases and Injury Management

Module 4: Challenge Level : 2 days 

  • Completion of the full repertoire of the Mat, advanced/challenge level on the Reformer, and the most complex exercises on the other apparatus

  • Dynamic movement through breath and rhythm of exercises

  • Adding complex cueing

  • leave confident, curious, and inspired to inspire others.


Prerequisites: 

  • Familiar and comfortable with a Pilates workout on the apparatus

  • Usually a minimum of 30 sessions

Commitment:

Completion of all in person training  4 modules 

  • Log 600 hours of training (online, Apprenticeship in person, and taking sessions and classes

  • 450 Apprenticeship (self practice | practice teaching | taking sessions and classes | observation

  • Passing  all assessments both written and practicals

  • Review all online video content on the Pi Academy Platform

  • Participate in classes and privates | Minimum 60 

  • Utilise student discount 30% discount on all classes

We  ensure deep and thorough learning through regular assessments at each level and a final assessment at the completion of 600 hours apprenticeship:

Assessment 1:  Post 100 hours apprenticeship.

Written - Anatomy Based

Practical - Teach an Intro Session.


Assessment 2:  Post 300 hours apprenticeship. 

Written - Q&A and a Case.

Practical - Teach a full Progression Session.


Assessment 3:  Post 400 hours apprenticeship. 

Written - 2x Cases
